Most medical programs require on-campus instruction, but there are some historically black medical schools that offer online degrees. Online degrees are usually tailored to working professionals who have already completed some amount of credits, and are going back to school to finish their degree. Therefore, many of these degree programs have highly flexible schedules to allow students to take classes when convenient. Hampton University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and Albany State University all have prestigious medical degrees that can be completed online. Hampton University
Hampton University is located in Hampton, Virginia and was founded in 1868 during Reconstruction after the Civil War to provide freedmen with higher education options. The university has wide selection of online programs with great support for distance learners. Among their online degrees are a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Ph.D. in Nursing. They offer both 1-year and 2-year accelerated RN to Bachelor Nursing degrees. Their Ph.D. in Nursing is focused on pediatric and family-related research, and core requirements are the same for all students regardless of specialization. First semester students take courses in Statistics for Health Professionals and Family Nursing.

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is located in Tallahassee, Florida and was founded in 1887. FAMU has a globally renowned pedigree, as it is the number one public HCBU among national universities according to US News & World Report. Their online Master of Public Health degree is the first MPH degree offered online by an HCBU, and it is the only MPH taught within a College of Pharmacy, which gives its students a unique perspective that is not taught anywhere else. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) was founded in 1891 in Greensboro, North Carolina. With an enrollment of close to 12,000 students, it is the largest historically black university in the United States, and was ranked second by US News & World Report among public historically black institutions. NCAT offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing which is tailored to registered nurses who are looking to advance their careers through additional education. Albany State University
Albany State University was established in 1903 and is located in Albany, Georgia. They have an extensive online catalog which offers online medical programs at all different academic levels. They offer Associate Degrees in Dental Hygiene and Diagnostic Medical Sonography; Registered Nurse to Bachelors of Science; and Masters of Science for Family Nurse Practitioner.
